Project 05: Pediatric Office Lobby

The concept for this pediatric office was to create a space that was influenced by patient lead design and helped improve the well being of all who entered into the space. This new approach to the design of hospitals and healthcare facilities puts patients' needs front and center. It recognizes the fact that the built environment has the ability to have a positive impact on patients' health, wellbeing, and recovery. Color has long been known to have a beneficial effect on wellbeing and healing. With this in mind, it makes sense to select a soothing col or palette featuring cool tones and muted shades. It is also useful to design healthcare environments with a view to allow as much natural light into the space as possible because of its beneficial links to improved energy and wellbeing. By having a children’s seating area this creates an inviting and comfortable environment that reduces stress for children, and by having bariatric seating this creates a welcoming environment for all patients.
